Webster, N.Y. – Katie Kogler’s home in Webster went dark on Monday night.

She’s now one of roughly 5,000 RG&E customers in our area who still don’t have power as of Wednesday at 11 p.m.

Many of those homes are in Webster, Brighton and Greece.

Despite the outage, Kogler got costumes on her three kids, then took them door to door in her neighborhood Wednesday.

“The kids enjoy it so much I didn’t want to disappoint them,” she said.

The sound of generators hummed through her neighborhood around Blue Spruce Drive.

“We don’t have a generator,” Kogley said. “We’ve been eating out, we’ve doing a lot of raking and just being outside.”

Not every one of Kogler’s neighbors who lost power is still powerless.

All Doug Kulp had to do when his lights went out, is flip the switch to his whole home generator.

“We lived through that ‘91 storm and we were out for 2-and-half weeks," Kulp said. "After that, nah, I’m not putting up with that anymore.”

RG&E is working quickly to get to Kogler and others.

They restored power to nearly 3,000 customers between Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night and expect to have power back to almost everyone in the Rochester area by midnight Friday.
