Rochester, N.Y. – Last year at this time, people were outside biking, running and fishing.

This time around, it can be a chore to just take a walk.

“We didn’t walk very far, we had to turn around sooner than expected,” said Sheldon Shapiro as he was wrapping up a stroll through Highland Park with his wife, Linda.

Just a few feet away, the Lamberton Conservatory was accepting people hoping to escape the ice cold first day of spring.

“People come in here to get their summer, spring fix,” said T.C. Pellet, marketing manager for the Monroe County Parks Department.

If you go, you’ll want to leave your coat at the door.

Temperatures can range from 80 to 90 degrees.

Inside, there’s green to see and flowers to smell.

Crews there are currently setting up their spring display replete with a wide-range of tulips.

The conservatory is open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. 7 days a week.

Admission: Youth (0-5) Free, Adult (19-61) $3, Youth (5-18)/Seniors (62 and up) $2.
