Henrietta, N.Y.— Call it the calm before the shopping-cart-storm. Some tried to get ahead of the last minute Thanksgiving item stampede.

“We had to pick up rolls, cereal and vegetables,” said Mae Goddard of Henrietta.

Patricia Finch had just one option for turkey day shopping, Thanksgiving eve.

“I work and I’m a busy person so this is the day I do it,” said Finch.

By early evening, their local store, the Wegmans on Calkins Road was bursting with anxious shoppers.

Store management tells 13WHAM News the busiest time around Thanksgiving is traditionally this evening, though the store is open Thursday until 5. Tops Friendly Markets are open until 4 p.m.
