Rochester, N.Y. – The holiday season is officially underway downtown.
The annual Liberty Pole lighting marked the official kickoff to the holiday season in Rochester.
After the lighting, attention turned to a parade and the official opening of the ice skating rink at Manhattan Square Park, which will be open until March.
Dodie Megerle, a city resident, said the event was a great way to draw people downtown.
“I’m kind of sad that Midtown’s gone, and I think we need to start coming back downtown,” she said. “They keep saying, ‘Let’s go back downtown,’ but what’s there to do? This is something to do.”
