Penfield, N.Y. – Support continues to pour in for the families affected by the Christmas Eve shooting in Webster.

Lilac Disposal donated a year’s worth of free garbage collection to the Chiapperini, Kaczowka, Hofstetter and Scardino families.

The company’s owner, Karen Gutzmer, is the daughter of a longtime firefighter. She said she felt compelled to help.

“I remember coming down Christmas morning, and I said, 'We have to do something for those families,’” Gutzmer said. “It was a very senseless act, and we just need to help. We need to carry on what our parents taught us."

The company also presented a check to the Breast Cancer Coalition.
