Here is a list of local observances and ceremonies planned to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks scheduled for the Rochester area on September 11, 2012:
Batavia:
11am - The VA Western New York Healthcare System will hold a commemorative ceremony at its Batavia campus at 222 Richmond Avenue inside the auditorium of building 4.
Brighton:
8am-9am - MCC will hold a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at the September 11th Remembrance Walk outside of the school's Brighton Campus on East Henrietta Road.
Canandaigua:
6pm - The Canandaigua Fire Department will host a community prayer service at St. Mary's Church at 95 North Main Street in Canandaigua. A candlelight march and procession will follow to the American Legion on 454 North Main Street.
Geneva:
10am - A September 11th commemoration ceremony will be held a the Long Pier Memorial.
Greece:
8:30am-11am -The Ridge road Fire District will hold a 9/11 remembrance service and vigil at 1299 Long Pond Road.
Rochester:
10:30am - The Rochester Police Department and the Rochester Fire Department will host a memorial service at the Public Safety Building Auditorium at 185 Exchange Boulevard.
12pm-3pm - The University of Rochester will host a vigil to remember the victims, including school alumni at the Meridian Bench, located on the Eastman Quad on the River Campus.
2pm-7pm - The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will sponsor a memorial blood drive for the Red Cross at 1609 East Main Street.
Spencerport:
7pm - A 9/11 remembrance service and salute will take place at the Village Gazebo overlooking the Erie Canal.
Webster:
7pm - A September 11th memorial service will be held at the gazebo in the Veterans Memorial Park on North Avenue.
