Washington D.C. - A Spencerport airman is busy in Washington coordinating military ceremonies for the president's inauguration.

“It happens every four years, but the likelihood of a service member being selected to show up and provide support is just an opportunity that I'm grateful to have and I'm honored,” said 1st Lt. Zachariah Gonyea.

Lieutenant Gonyea is part of a military joint task force that helps coordinate the inauguration, including a dress rehearsal last week.

This is Gonyea's second time experiencing an inauguration. He attended the 2005 event for President George W. Bush as a spectator.

“It's nice to reminisce about what it was like looking from the outside back in 2005 , and now to be a part of it is definitely a unique experience,” he said.

Lieutenant Gonyea is now based in Oklahoma but his mother, stepfather and a brother still live in the area.
