New York, N.Y. -  Local marines have been spending this week helping with Hurricane Sandy cleanup efforts in New York City.

1Lt. Timothy Irish said he's been clearing debris from homes and streets, and helping to pump water out of homes.

The Irondequoit native is based in Camp Lejeune. He said he is working alongside marines from Kendall and the Rochester area, who volunteered to help along with him.
