Genesee County, N.Y. - A Byron teenager was sentenced Thursday to six months in jail and five years of probation for her role in a deadly golf cart accident.

Cortney Greene pleaded guilty in June to criminally negligent homicide and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Greene was driving a golf cart on Route 237 in Bergen last November when another vehicle hit into it.

Zachary Rusin, 18, was a passenger on the golf cart and died from his injuries.

In court Thursday, the victim’s mother told the judge she did not want Greene to receive jail time.
