Rochester, N.Y. – Another longtime Village Gate business is being forced to relocate.

Comics, Etc. was notified its lease would not be renewed, according to owner Andy Battaglia. The store had been in the Village Gate complex for 29 years. Battaglia said the news took him by surprise and he wasn’t given an opportunity to negotiate.

“Things just didn’t work out and I’ve got to make the best of it. I’ve got a huge store to move and I need a good sized location,” he said.

In late 2011, the Bop Shop was forced to move to make way for restaurants.

The owner of Village Gate, Gary Stern is out of town and did not respond to a voicemail. It’s not clear what is planned for the Comics, Etc. space.

“I used to come here as a kid,” said customer Salvatore Otero. “I live in Chili now. I came all the way down here just to buy a couple comics. I’ll follow them wherever they go.”
