Henrietta, N.Y. – Congresswoman Louise Slaughter visited medical technology firm Lumetrics Monday morning to announce a research-and-development grant.

Slaughter said she wants to make sure small companies like Lumetrics are able to keep up with larger companies.

“We mist also fix our flawed free-trade agreements and ensure that companies like Lumetrics, Cerion, SiMPore and Vnomics are able to compete on a level playing field,” she said. “That’s why I have authored bipartisan legislation to guarantee that our trade is not only free, but fair, for a change.”

The grant will help fund development of a device that could improve access to vision-related health care in the United States and around the world.
