Rochester, N.Y. - MCC's plan to move its downtown campus jumped one more hurdle Wednesday night through a vote in the Monroe County Legislature's Ways and Means Committee.
The committee voted to advance the acquisition of space at the Kodak site off State Street.
MCC needs that space in order to move its downtown campus out of the Sibley Building.
An hour before the meeting, the new owner of Sibley - Winn Development - submitted a new proposal that would have MCC stay put - a deal, they claim, would save taxpayers millions of dollars.
Winn representatives argued they were surprised by how quickly MCC's plan was moving through the legislature and requested more time.
MCC president Anne Kress said the proposal is too little, too late.
The committee rejected a proposal to table the vote.
The full legislature will vote on the project on Feb. 12.
Winn says that leaves plenty of time to turn the tables.
