Macedon, N.Y. - Some drivers in Macedon will have to take a detour for a few months.
The New York State Department of Transportation is closing the North Wayneport Road bridge that goes over the Erie Canal starting the week of March 4.
The bridge will remain closed for a period of four months while it undergoes $992,000 worth of repairs.
Deteriorating concrete and steel will be replaced to extend the life of the 100-year-old bridge. As many original components as possible will be retained.
A detour will direct drivers to use Routes 31, 31F, West Walworth Road, and Quaker Road.
The bridge is expected to reopen in late June.
