Rochester, N.Y. (AP) — A state prison inmate serving time for fatally shooting a woman and wounding a man in Rochester two decades ago has been charged with murder two years after the wounded man died from his injuries.
Ziad Yousef, 47, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Monroe County Court to a second-degree murder charge in the death of Aaron Watkins according to the Democrat and Chronicle.
Yousef was convicted in 1994 of second-degree murder and assault for fatally shooting 30-year-old Tracy McFadden and wounding the then-29-year-old Watkins during an argument outside a Rochester deli.
Prosecutors say Watkins suffered a spinal injury and was paralyzed. Authorities say he died in 2011 from injuries connected to the gunshot wound.
Yousef was sentenced to 20 years to life. He's eligible for parole in the spring.
