Rochester, N.Y. – A man was killed Tuesday morning after he was crushed by heavy machinery near a construction site on Canal Street.
Police say the victim, Tyrone Martin, 54, was crushed by a metal plate which fell from a compactor-like device.
Police say the victim did not work at the site or have permission to be there.
Family members showed up at the scene. Beatrice Barfield, a first cousin of the victim, says the family is devastated.
“We’re going to be together as close as we can because this is what he would want. We love each other and this is why we are all here.”
Family members described Martin as an outgoing person who made everyone laugh.
