Romulus, N.Y. - An Ovid man drowned while boating Monday, according to the Seneca County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say Emanuel Swarey, 20, was boating on Cayuga Lake near Dean’s Cove and went swimming. Deputies received a report that he was missing from view about 6 p.m.

Witnesses say he wasn't wearing a floatation device and couldn't make it back to his boat.

Rescue crews pulled his body from the water about two hours later. He was found about 200 feed from shore in 20 feet of water.

Deputies say alcohol was not a factor in the man's death.
