With the utmost respect to Marjorie's service, there is another woman in Rochester NY that maintains the Oldest Marine in Rochester NY. Thelma Ryan Gaughan, at age 96, (97 on June 20) served as a Marine also beginning her service in 1943 on Parris Island. Still vibrant and full of Semper Fi spirit, she remains the Hurley Post Commander, Ret. and first woman member of Cooper Marine Post. Thelma is doing well here in Rochester NY, maintains her NYS drivers license, lives independently in the house built for her and her beloved husband Walter (deceased). My Great Aunt Thelma has been blessed, and is most proud of the Core. The Marine Core flag hangs still on her home. Kind Regards, Joseph M Ryan, Rochester NY
