Medina, N.Y. -- An Orleans County man has been arrested in connection with a historic gun theft.

Police in West Seneca, near Buffalo, have charged Michael Ortiz, 38, of Medina, for allegedly stealing a revolver dating back to the 1860s that was believed to have been owned by a member of the Jesse James Gang. Ortiz has been charged with grand larceny.

The revolver was taken last fall from the West Seneca Historical Society and recovered in a Greece pawn shop. The gun is worth $3,000-$5,000.

Ortiz and his brother, Roy Ortiz, 35, are also facing charges in connection with thefts of antiques in Warsaw, Caledonia, and Penn Yan. Police say it's possible he'll face other charges.
