Rochester, N.Y. - Family, friends, doctors, and an inspired community gathered at Asbury First United Methodist Church Sunday afternoon for a memorial service in memory of Grace Esposito.
Grace passed away February 16 from complications following surgery. She was born with CDH or Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. CDH babies have a hole in their diaphragm, which is the muscle that separates the abdomen from the chest cavity.
13WHAM anchor Jennifer Johnson and her husband Vinnie Espositio were relentless advocates for Grace throughout her 16 months with them.
No surgery, no rainy day, and certainly no lack of sleep could ever set back these two parents in fighting each and every day for their daughter.
We, our viewers, and the community came to know her as “Amazing Grace”.
“Gracie’s not amazing because she was sick, she’s not amazing because she has well-known parents, or because she raised a lot of money for an amazing cause. Gracie was just an amazing little girl,” said Grace’s godmother, Elsbeth Ruder Ebenhoe, at the service.
She was just that: Amazing
“We miss Grace deeply. We miss that little giggle, and that irresistible grin, which got her whatever she wanted. We miss her so much, but we know she’s charming them all in Heaven, just like she did here,” Vinnie Esposito said to the full church.
Jennifer and Vinnie request that donations go to Golisano Children's Hospital. Follow this link
