Mendon, N.Y. – If you saw what looked like zombies running down roads Saturday, there’s no need to worry.
The inaugural Mendon Zombie Run featured a 5K fun run with an obstacle course that included a “blood lake” and mud crawl, among other hurdles.
More than 200 runners had to avoid the chasing zombies, or else they became one as well. Those who avoided zombies won prizes at the end of the run.
All money raised went to the Fish Food Pantry in Honeoye Falls.
Bethany Munt, one of the event’s organizers, said it was successful and hopes to make it annual.
"Everyone seemed to have loved it,” Munt said. “We want to go above and beyond and do a lot more with this. It's the first year, but I think the response overwhelmingly was that people were happy with it. They had a good time, they left with mud, blood and guts ... not a bad deal."
