Rochester, N.Y. - The City is negotiating a parking deal with the developers of Midtown Tower.
Construction on the $55 million project will start this year.
Developers Buckingham Properties and Morgan Management plan 182 apartments with retail and offices on the first few floors.
The mayor won't say if the developers will get generous terms for parking in the Midtown garage.
Mayor Tom Richards (D) said, “A sweetheart deal is in the eye of the beholder. If you're the guy who's willing to come down, plunk your good money down, and take the risk of whether or not you can rent out that building, and you're the first guy to do that and make Midtown a success or a failure, then you know, you have a right to ask for some help.”
The city would like the developers to run and monitor their portion of the garage.
