Albany, N.Y. (AP) - New York education officials asked schools around the state to join in a moment of silence today.

At 9:30 a.m. the silence will remember the victims of the Connecticut school killings.

A gunman killed his mother at their home and then 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown last Friday.
