Rochester, N.Y. – Monroe County Health Director Dr. Andrew Doniger and County Executive Maggie Brooks announced a new set of public clinics for distribution of the H1N1 vaccine.
The clinics are for people in high-risk groups including pregnant women, caregivers of young children and children 6 months to 24.
Healthy adults have to wait until early next year to get the swine flu shots.
The health department hopes to have enough vaccine to give 20,000 shots, though that number is not enough to cover everyone in Monroe County who falls into the high-risk category groups.
Two mass clinics have been scheduled at various locations across the county.
Thursday, November 19, H1N1 clinics will be held from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.:- Medley Centre, Irondequoit
- Dome Center, Henrietta
- Penfield Town Hall
- West End Business Center, 803 West Ave, Rochester
- First Bible Baptist Church, 990 Manitou Rd, Parma
Saturday, November 21, H1N1 clinics will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.:- Medley Centre, Irondequoit
- Blue Cross Arena, Rochester
- Penfield Town Hall
- West End Business Center, 803 West Ave, Rochester
- First Bible Baptist Church, 990 Manitou Rd, Parma
The shots will be administered free of charge, regardless of insurance.
The county says it will hold more clinics in December, but is not yet scheduling them until they are sure they will have enough vaccine.
