Rochester, N.Y. – The Rochester City Council approved a moratorium on hydrofracking Tuesday night.

Hydrofracking is the controversial process which uses high pressured water to drill for natural gas.

The council says it wants to hold off on a ban until it knows more about the drilling process.

Brighton and Rush have also passed moratoria.

The hydrofracking moratorium is for one year.
