Albany, N.Y. --- When Governor David Paterson was asked when he plans to call a special election in the 29th Congressional District for the now-vacant seat, he said.
"We're going to call it as soon as possible."
When asked if anyone asked him not to call it, he said "No," and when asked if he thought the seat would remain vacant the rest of the year he replied, "I wouldn't think so."
Those questions were more than likely prompted by ongoing health care Reform discussions in Washington D.C. and a belief by many that the Democratic majority would prefer the seat vacant as opposed to a potential "No" vote.
Rep. Eric Massa officially resigned Monday at 5 p.m.
