Webster, N.Y. -- The National 9/11 Flag went on display in Webster and at a Red Wings game Saturday.

The flag has moved from city to city, reminding people of the attacks on Sept. 11.

The flag was destroyed ten years ago at the world trade center, but three years ago, tornado survivors from Kansas decided to start stitching it back together.

Local EMTs and firefighters were able to add their own stitches and honor those lost in the terrorist attacks.

"It's symbolic in that we're trying to put this flag back together," said Mark Cholack, the Monroe County Deputy Fire Coordinator. "It started as a tattered flag hanging off of 90 West Street, and in Greensboro, Kansas, they put it on the cotton patch and slowly, one stitch at a time, it's been reconstructed into what you see now."

Mary Kay Kenorr, a paramedic for East Rochester, stopped by the display Saturday. She says the Sept. 11 attacks inspired her to become an EMT.

"It was very surreal," she said. "I loved that we could actually go and touch it, and see the people, and hear the stories. ... It is a sad thing that we're having the tenth anniversary of it, but, the U.S. came together that day."

"We wear different badges and we wear different patches, but we're all one family," Cholack said.

The flag will arrive in New York City for the tenth anniversary of the attacks next month.
