Rochester, N.Y. – It’s been an ironworks factory, temporary City Hall and high school. Next week, a West Main Street structure built in 1905 will begin a new chapter.

Passero Associates is moving its headquarters to the downtown building, which most recently houses Josh Lofton High School. The seventy workers will take up most of first two floors, though there is ground floor retail space. There are 24 one and two bedrooms apartments on the upper floors. Rents are $1,000-1,300 a month. There’s underground parking and a rooftop deck.

“This property fronted the canal and there were crossings and multiple bridges,” said architect Peter Wehner, of Passero. What we found is they used to call this area Bridge Square so we renamed it Bridge Square District and actually had this building designated a historic landmark.”

The project cost $6.7 million.
