Rochester, N.Y. - The Monroe County Sheriff's Office's K-9 fleet is growing with the addition of a 14-month-old German Shepherd named Dano.
Dano, who comes from Holland, will begin training in March. He will be put into service when training is complete in June.
Dano will assist Deputy Kenneth Weber on patrol in the western side of Monroe county, and specialize in building searches, the tracking of suspects, and missing persons cases.
Typically dogs that are assigned to deputies serve a five-year minimum commitment, according to the sheriff's office. When that commitment is complete, the dogs then reside with the deputy.
