New York State Unemployment Dips

N.Y. - Unemployment fell slightly across New York State last month.

A report from the New York State Department of Labor shows the overall unemployment rate fell from 9.1 to 8.9% in September compared to September 2011. The state added about 134,000 private sector jobs during the past year.

The Rochester area, however, saw an increase in the unemployment rate, from 7.6 percent to 7.9%.
