(Rochester, N.Y.)-Rochester Police say Officer Anthony DiPonzio is progressing well.

He’s still in guarded condition at Rochester General Hospital after he was shot in the head Saturday, January 31, on Dayton Street.

The Rochester Police Department says that DiPonzio opened his eyes over the weekend, and is much more alert than the previous week.

Police say the community support “has no doubt helped him in his recovery.”

Last week, the neuron-surgeon who operated on DiPonzio said his recovery will take months.

Tyquan Rivera, 14, is accused of shooting Officer DiPonzio.

Ummm, it's called a Neuro-surgeon, not Neuron. lololol. But, more importantly, it is wonderful to hear that there is hope for this man. Best of luck Officer DiPonzio!!
