Rochester, N.Y. - Police charged a homeless man accused of attacking a police officer.

Rochester Police said an officer in a car stopped at a light at Monroe Avenue and Goodman Street around 11:30 Thursday night.

A man, described as aggressive and agitated, walked out of a nearby Rite-Aid and approached the car.

When the officer got out of the car, police say Rodney Acton shoved and punched her.

The man ran off but other officers were able to catch up with him.

Acton is charged with assault and resisting arrest.
