Greece, NY – A 17-year-old boy was killed and his passenger was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash on the Lake Ontario State Parkway Monday morning.
The vehicle left the road and smashed into a tree along the parkway near the Dewey Avenue exit about 1:30 a.m., according to state police.
Police say just before the accident, troopers on Lake Avenue observed that same vehicle, southbound on Lake moved into the northbound lane. The vehicle then passed through a red light and proceeded westbound on the Parkway at a high rate of speed.
The driver, 17-year-old Heriberto Sanchez was taken to Strong Hospital where he later died.
His passenger, Lidia Fontanez, 16, was taken to the hospital with a broken jaw and arm. She is in guarded condition.
Troopers are still investigating the crash.
