Oswego Soldier Honored With NY Flags At Half-Staff

Albany, N.Y. - Flags will be flown at half-staff on Friday to honor a 23-year-old soldier from Oswego who died in Afghanistan.

His family was told Specialist Kyle Rookey died at in Jalalabad in Afghanistan on September 2.

He was assigned to the 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.

Specialist Kyle Rookey leaves behind the wife he married in December, Victoria; their 11-month old child, Flora; two sisters, Angela, 15, and Elizabeth Rookey, 13; his younger brother David Wallace; his parents Carol Sue Akers and George Rooke.
