(CNN) - Some breast cancer patients may develop post-traumatic stress disorder.

That's according to research done by the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

The study of more than 1,100 participants found that 23% of newly diagnosed breast cancer patients experience some symptoms of PTSD like anxiety and trouble sleeping.

Younger women, and African-American and Asian women, were most likely to develop the disorder.
