Palmyra, N.Y.- Parole has been denied for a man from Palmyra who was convicted of killing a 15-year-old classmate and 17-month-old boy she was babysitting at the time.
Chad Campbell was only 14 at the time in 1991 when he stabbed Cynthia Lewis forty times. He also stabbed the baby, Curtis Rizzo.
Police found the victims in a field behind Palmyra-Macedon Middle School.
The parole board said in its decision it has considered Campbell’s risk to society, rehabilitation efforts and needs for successful re-entry into the community. The decision said, “More compelling, however, is the extreme violence you exhibited against two innocent children, a 15-year-old that you brutally stabbed, and killed a 17-month-old baby, whose throat you slashed. The baby also died as a result of your heinous actions, after you killed the victims, you rode your bicycle home, washed the blood off your hands and went to a soccer game.”
The board also said since Campbell’s last board interview he incurred a disciplinary infraction.
Campbell will be eligible for parole again in May 2014.
