Dannemora, N.Y. - Former Greece Police officer Nick Joseph denied drug use, and said he did not remember how he got home after a June 2008 crash.

The revelation comes from a January 24 parole hearing, that was made public Friday.

Joseph was sentenced in May 2009 to three to five years in state prison on charges of vehicular assault, leaving the scene, driving under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, and perjury.

Joseph was off duty when he crashed into a car. Alexis Sharp was in the car that Joseph hit. She was pregnant and gave birth prematurely as a result of her injuries.

Blood from Joseph's impounded car tested positive for cocaine, but he told the parole board he never took the drug.

"The test results indicated cocaine in my system, but it didn't detect any cocaine ingestion," Joseph said.

In its ruling to deny parole, the board said Joseph showed no remorse for the crash.

"Your repeated decisions and actions clearly demonstrate your willingness and intent to evade responsibility," the parole board said in its ruling.

Joseph won't be eligible for parole again until 2014.
