NEW YORK (AP) - Former Gov. George Pataki has endorsed fellow Republican Wendy Long in her run against Democratic U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.
In announcing his support Wednesday, Pataki says New York voters should send Long to the Senate to cast the deciding vote to repeal health care reform and to reduce government borrowing.
Long is a New York City lawyer in what polls indicate is an uphill race against Gillibrand.
Gillibrand is running her second Senate campaign since her appointment in 2009 to replace Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. She ran in 2010 to finish Clinton's term and is now running for a full, six-year term.
