Greece, N.Y. (AP) — Three pit bulls have been euthanized after they fatally mauled one of two greyhounds being walked by their owner in a Rochester suburb last month.

The animal control officer in the town of Greece says that the pit bulls were euthanized Monday afternoon.

The dogs attacked Nancy Kliss and her two greyhounds while she walked them on May 31. A neighbor wielding a baseball bat came to her rescue.

One of the greyhounds had to be euthanized because of its injuries. The other is recovering.

Kliss was bitten on one of her hands.

The owner of the pit bulls was issued tickets for having a dog loose and off a leash, attacking and injuring another animal, and attacking and injuring a person.
