Pittsford, N.Y.--Voters in the Village of Pittsford will get the chance to have their voices heard through the ballot box on Tuesday. The biggest seat up for election is that of the mayor.
Robert Corby, a longtime Republican, lost support of his party in large part because of his less than favorable views toward an apartment complex planned for Monroe Avenue. He is running on the Democratic line.
Corby's challenger, is former trustee Trip Pierson, a Republican.
"It's a large project and it's important that it be compatible to the character of our village," said Corby.
Pierson had been against the project, but said he listened to people of the village, and is for it.
"It would help the business districts," said Pierson. "It would help the citizens. It would help make this village a more walkable village by having more people."
The project still needs approval from the village's planning board, and it could go back to the board of trustees, according to Corby.
