Rochester, N.Y. -- Several Rochester police officers were honored at City Hall Friday for their actions after one of their own, Anthony DiPonzio, was shot two weeks ago.

Officers Paul Dondorfer, Amy Pfeffer and Ryan Fantigrossi received a key to the city from Mayor Bob Duffy.  Other officers on the scene will be honored with certificates of recognition

Also, Anthony and Joanne DiPonzio, parents of the wounded officer, also accepted a key to the City on behalf of their son, and Dr. Paul Maurer, the neurosurgeon who operated on Officer DiPonzio received a key.

Anthony DiPonzio continues to do better than expected. His family says he is talking now and will start rehabilitation therapy at St. Mary’s sometime next week.
