Hilton, N.Y. – One person is in custody after a police situation on West Avenue in Hilton Saturday morning.
Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the house just before 9 a.m. for the report of a person barricaded inside with a weapon. Deputies say the man was angry after an argument over the phone and grabbed a rifle inside the house.
The man’s parents, who live at the house with him, were also inside at the time. His mother left the house, but his father volunteered to remain inside the home.
Police were able to talk the man out of the house around 11 a.m. He was taken into custody without incident and sent to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
No one was injured in the incident. No word on what charges the man faces.
