Philadelphia (CNN) - Pope Benedict XVI may visit Philadelphia in 2015 for the World Meeting of Families.

The event, which took place Sunday in Milan, Italy, takes place every three years.

It was started by Pope John Paul II in 1992 to strengthen marriage and families.

The announcement comes in the midst of an ongoing sex abuse case in the Pennsylvania Catholic community.
