Charlotte, N.Y.- The problems of algae at Ontario Beach Park could soon be a thing of the past.

The Army Corps of Engineers are doing a test this summer using a portable device to remove algae from the water at the beach and pump it over the pier into the Genesee River.

They did try this with a different device in 2001.

The project is expected to cost $353,000.

It’s set to begin in July.
