Washington - President Obama became emotional as he spoke to his campaign staff Wednesday.

"What you guys had done means that the work that I'm doing is important,” he said. “And I'm really proud of that. I'm really proud of all of you.” The president paused to compose himself and wipe a tear.

The crowd responded with applause.

Today, the president will deliver his first official statement since his victory. It will be on the state of the economy.
