Denver - We got our first look at the debating skills of President Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney Wednesday night.

This was a chance for the candidates to present their differences on the economy.

A new CNN poll gave the edge to Romney when it showed that two thirds of undecided voters said they thought Romney won the first debate.

At one point, the president was asked if the Bush tax cuts should be allowed to expire for the wealthiest Americans in order to increase the federal government's revenue.

Obama: “There has to be revenue in addition to cuts. Now, Governor Romney has ruled out revenue.”

Lehrer: “Is that true?”

Romney: “Absolutely.”

Lehrer: “Completely?”

Romney: “Look, the revenue I get is by more people working, getting higher pay, paying more taxes. That's how we get growth and how we balance the budget. But the idea of taxing people more, putting more people out of work, you'll never get there. You'll never balance the budget by raising taxes.”

The vice presidential candidates will have their first debate in a week.
