Rochester, N.Y. -- It was around 11:30 p.m. Saturday that 32-year-old Alexis Cuevas was found shot to death on a sidewalk under a railroad overpass on N. Clinton Avenue.

Moments earlier he was at the train station waiting to board a train on his way out of town.

"We understand our victim was at the train station waiting for a train and for unknown reasons left the train station and wandered down here to the sidewalk area,” R.P.D. Investigator Gary Galetta explained while retracing Cuevas’ path with Investigator John Brennan. “We have no concept as to why he ended up on the west side of the street but obviously there was a confrontation."

Cuevas was shot multiple times in the upper body according to investigators.

"We had witnesses who heard the shots across the street and they were our 911 callers," Galetta said.

By the time EMT’s and police arrived on the scene there Cuevas was already dead. While those witnesses heard the shots they weren’t in a position to see enough to help police.

"Right now we have no real known motive, no suspects and we're looking for anybody; passersby, motorist, people at the train station that may have seen him prior to this," Galetta continued. “It's going to be people that are in the know, you know in the circles in the streets that hear the words about what transpired and why."

Cuevas was living in Rochester but had family in Connecticut and Puerto Rico; both places he called home at one time.

"There are people here in Rochester and people in Connecticut and Puerto Rico that are obviously very concerned and want answers just like we do," Galetta said.

If you have any information that could help investigators solve this murder you're asked to call CrimeStoppers at 423-9300.
