Rochester, N.Y. - Democratic Monroe County Legislators Richard Beebe and C. Stephen Eckel lost in re-election bids on election day.
Eckel gained publicity in the past week, after admitting that he posted naked photos of himself on a website that he uses for both personal and professional reasons. Eckel, who has worked as a professor of photography, served in the legislature since 2005. He removed the photos that he called art.
Republican Tony Micciche defeated Eckel for the 26th District seat that covers a portion of Rochester, Gates, Greece and Irondequoit. Micciche earned 53 percent of the vote to Eckel's 47.
Democrat Richard Beebe, whose 6th District seat covers Greece and Rochester, lost a re-election bid to Fred Ancello.
Republicans now hold an 18-11 advantage over Democrats in the legislature.
There will be three new faces for Democrats in the Monroe County Legislature next year.
Justin Wilcox ran unopposed, and will replace Travis Heider in the 13th District, which covers Brighton. Heider did not seek re-election.
John Lightfoot earned Calvin Lee's seat in the 25th District. Term limits banned Lee for seeking re-election.
Michael Patterson will replace Saul Maneiro. Maniero lost the Democratic primary to Patterson. Maniero ran on the Independence line in Tuesday's election and lost.
Incumbent legislators won re-election in the remaining 24 seats.
