Rochester, N.Y. - Rochester native and Pulitzer Prize winner Richard Ben Cramer has died.

Cramer was a best-selling author and reporter for four decades.

One of his campaign novels, “What It Takes,” is regarded as a paragon of American culture and politics.

Cramer had been fighting lung cancer at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

He was 62.
