Greece, N.Y. – Smoke alarms installed by Ridge Road firefighters alerted residents of a Ridgeway Ave home to a fire early Saturday morning.
Firefighters were called to the home just after 4:30 a.m. Heavy fire was coming from the first floor of the house when crews arrived.
Two people and a dog were taken from the roof of the front porch with a ladder as they tried to escape the fire. Both were taken to Unity Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
Firefighters were able to control the fire in around one hour. The house sustained heavy smoke and fire damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
