Albany, N.Y. - New statistics from the New York State Department of Labor show unemployment in the Rochester area went up to 8.4 percent as of June.
That's up from 7.7 percent from one year ago.
One reason for the jump is that more people entering the job market.
A recent report showed Rochester added 9,200 jobs in the last year , which is good, but still not enough to absorb all the people looking for work.
